DISCover United Way Disc Golf Tournament Set for September 12
Alliance- DISCover United Way Disc Golf Tournament presented by Dave’s Pharmacy is set for September 12 at the newly completed Rolling Prairie Disc Golf Course at Laing Lake to benefit United Way of Western Nebraska serving Box Butte County.
The 36 hole tournament is open to disc golfers of all abilities whether a seasoned pro, new to the game or somewhere in between. Player divisions include both men’s and women’s novice and intermediate, men’s advanced, pro open and youth divisions. Winning players will be able to choose their prizes from an onsite vendor. Advanced and pro divisions have an added cash payout. The entry fee is $35 per player. All registered disc golfers will receive a player’s pack. The first 50 players to pre-register will receive a premium custom hot stamped disc, logo stamped golf towel, holographic sticker and United Way bag and water bottle included in their player pack.
The Rolling Prairie Disc Golf Course was designed by the 2010 PDGA champion Eric McCabe following rehabilitation and fundraising efforts from the Alliance Disc Golf Committee. Eighteen holes will be played in the morning and 18 holes in the afternoon. The course will change for the afternoon round so it will be like playing two courses in one day.

Check-in and registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast burritos are available to purchase onsite from Newberry’s. A free disc golf clinic will be held beginning at 8:45 a.m. with the morning round beginning at 10 a.m. Players will break for lunch with onsite food vendors available in the Laing Lake parking lot off of Burnham Drive open to both players and the public. Vendors include Wild Woman BBQ, Snolicious Tropical Sno and Lizzy’s Lemonade. The tournament will also feature a beverage cart for players during the tournament. The afternoon round of play will begin approximately one hour after the morning round concludes.
