United Way Awards $16,000 of Grants to Local Programs Fighting Hunger

Scottsbluff- United Way of Western Nebraska recently held their 2021 “Fighting Hunger in our Communities” projects where grants totaling $16,000 were distributed to 16 local programs serving food insecure families.  

These grants were presented to 5 local school district weekend food backpack programs, 7 food pantries, soup kitchen (serving 3 sites), 1 disaster and 2 emergency food programs to purchase additional food items needed to serve the food insecure families and individuals they serve for the next several months.

Money raised for these annual projects are done through grants and donations specific to food insecurity. This year’s generous project sponsors were Arby’s Foundation, Healthy Blue NE, Pipe Works Plumbing, Platte Valley Companies, TEAM Auto Center, Main Street Market, Allo Communications and Floyd’s Trucking.
