Karen Benzel

Karen Benzel serves as Executive Director of United Way of Western Nebraska, leading efforts to bring people and resources together to strengthen communities across the region. With a strong commitment to collaboration and local impact, she works closely with partners, donors, and agencies to advance initiatives that support education, health, and financial stability.

Karen is passionate about serving rural communities and ensuring that resources make a meaningful difference for individuals and families throughout Western Nebraska.

Jessie Lopez

Jessie Lopez is who is passionate about connecting people and resources to create meaningful change. He plays a key role in supporting impactful campaigns and strengthening community partnerships. Outside of work, Jessie enjoys graphic design, working with his hands, and spending quality time with his family.

Carla Bang


Administrative Coordinator

Carla Bang enjoys working behind the scenes, helping keep things organized and running smoothly with her strong attention to detail. She values building one-on-one connections and is always willing to lend a hand or offer support when it’s needed. Outside of work, Carla stays busy with her large family and truly enjoys the time caring for and having fun with her five dogs.
